Collaboration Tools


One of the fundamental features of an online course is the ability to communicate and collaborate. Good teaching practice will enable and facilitate a collaborative process to achieve course goals. In this workshop, you will learn how to identify, manipulate and use the complete collaboration tool set in Blackboard, including discussions, announcements, email, chat & electronic whiteboard, calendar, and the built-in system syllabus. The workshop format is presentational, with an opportunity for questions and answers, and time to practice with guided activities to facilitate your understanding.

After completing the workshop, participants should be able to:

  • identify the full set of Bb collaboration tools
  • manipulate Bb collaboration tools by selecting appropriate settings for desired behaviors
  • distinguish between individual tool settings and resulting system behaviors
  • select appropriate collaboration tools for an online course
  • apply appropriate teaching techniques to foster and maintain collaboration
